About the event

Japanese pianist Naho Hayashi enjoys performing and teaching in her current city of Glasgow. Alongside giving piano lessons she is Deputy Accompanist for the Glasgow Philharmonic Male Voice Choir and Principal Organist at Kelvinbridge Parish Church. She began taking piano lessons at the age of three and played through her childhood. Her piano studies were interrupted by college and career. She holds a Degree in Economics from Kyoto University and was a Management Consultant at Deloitte in Tokyo. However after a 17 year absence from music performance, her love of the piano was re-ignited, following a trip to Valldemossa, in Mallorca, where Chopin spent the winter of 1838/1839. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with Graeme McNaught. Naho came with her Trio to perform for us in 2023 and we had a great concert. She is making a very welcome return with Silvija Mihaylova to play a joint piano recital to round off our 2024-25 season.

Bulgarian pianist Silviya Mihaylova is based in Glasgow, UK where she enjoys busy life as a performer, chamber musician and a teacher. Currently Silviya is the pianist for Sound Collective Scotland, the accompanist for the Glasgow Philharmonic Male Voice Choir and a lecturer in piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, both in their Junior and Senior Departments.

Born in Plovdiv, Silviya studied with Mrs. Rositza Ivancheva at the National School for Music and Dance “Dobrin Petkov” in Bulgaria and with Prof Fali Pavri at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she obtained Bachelor and Master’s in piano performance.

Silviya is an alumnus of Live Music Now Scotland, founded by Yehudi Menuhin. She was also a former visiting piano teacher at the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation, Mumbai, created in honour of Zubin Mehta’s father.

Programme to be advised but this will be a concert not to be missed.
